La Cage au Folles Project

Total spent for five gold frames: $5
So, here are a couple of little projects in the works for our newly almost-renovated third floor. Though there is much to finish up there, the bedroom half just needs its carpet steam-cleaned and it will be move-back-in time.
The carpet is an off-white Berber and still in good shape. The walls have been painted the palest of blues and the white trim is freshly redone. We probably need to get new blinds, but I plan to make floor length white or off-white curtains with a horizontal royal blue stripe through the middle third. I will try to post that project when I get to it.
Before: Dusty, dirty, and dark.
I have been collecting textured gold frames to hang in a grouping. I think I will frame maps of all the cities we've lived in: Mt. Pleasant, Bay City, Adrian, Onsted, Traverse City (all in Michigan), and Colorado Springs, where we moved after we got married. I haven't seen this done anywhere and thought it sounded kind of cool.
Anyhoo . . . here is a "before" picture of the aforementioned bird cage, a $4.99 investment at Goodwill. (There was a similar one at a local consignment shop for twice as much.) At the same Goodwill, I purchased  two new cans of spray paint (oatmeal and pearl) for a total of $2.98.
After first coat of spray paint.
The goal: a birdcage with a pearl finish, filled with white minilights and suspended in a corner of the new bedroom. Somewhere. Not bad for an $8 investment.  Stay tuned for the finished project.
Thanks for rolling in the fluff and ruff . . ..
                                                                                               ~~Gigi
