As usual, I am multitasking . . . Watching Gone with the Wind, surfing Pinterest for bedroom decor ideas, and checking in with my Etsy shop, Fluff and Ruff Beach Glass Designs. Seems like the perfect time to post a new blog!
Now that I've begun blogging in earnest, I guess you should know a bit about me. I have a degree in art and am also certified to teach. By profession, I am a high school English teacher and have been at the same building in northern Michigan for the last twelve years. Before I became a teacher, I was a textbook editor for eight years at McGraw-Hill in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (News of the recent fires have been nerve-wracking and I was relieved to hear today that they are about 70 percent contained by now. Thank goodness.)
I have been married for over 30 years and have three "kids," ages 19, 22, and 25, and one grandson, age 14 months. Two miniature Schnauzers, Mason and Boo, round out the roll call at my house. Steve and I live year-round in a Cape Cod home on a small inland lake and are a mere 10 minutes from Lake Michigan. Lake living is the best, in my humble opinion!
So why am I blogging on a website about beach glass? All I know is that I will retire from teaching in the next 6-7 years and want my "encore" career to be something completely different and creative. So I am reading almost everything I can get my hands on about selling online and search engine optimization, and the like, hoping that by the time I'm ready to leave teaching behind, I will have done the necessary prep work for a successful online venture.
In the meantime, I will continue gathering beach glass and collecting design ideas. And, of course, I will also be reading, listening to music, watching movies, and reading books--all at the same time.
Thanks for spending part of your day in a fluff and ruff state of mind. ~~Gigi
